KATHMANDU, May 13: The NMB bank has launched a new service allowing people to open a new bank account via the Viber messaging platform.

The bank has also claimed that the service is the first of its kind in Nepal’s banking industry.

Earlier, the bank had successfully launched the service where customers can open a new account via Facebook Messenger.

According to a press statement issued by the bank, customers can now avail account/Fixed Deposit (FD) opening service through Viber.

Amidst the ongoing Covid-19 situation, the service is one of the many initiatives that the Bank has lined up to create an environment for customers to opt for easy and smart banking whilst simultaneously ensuring safety and security.

“The launch of account/FD opening service via Viber Messaging and Facebook Messenger marks the beginning of a series of innovative and convenient products and services that have been designed to truly enhance the banking experience of our customers. The current situation is apt for the launch of this service as it adds value to customers by helping them conduct banking transactions without having to compromise their safety,” the  statement further reads.
