Notice of protest on the Citizenship Bill by three MPs

KATHMANDU, July 12: Three lawmakers have filed a notice of protest against the proposed Citizenship Bill.


Bhim Bahadur Rawal and Sher Bahadur Tamang of CPN-UML and Prem Suwal of Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party (NMKP) are among those who have registered the notices. MP Rawal said that the government had disregarded the State Affairs Committee by withdrawing the bill.

MP Suwal has registered the notice demanding separate citizenship of the federation and the provinces and regulation of the open borders. Another lawmaker, Tamang, has filed a notice of protest stating that it is against the spirit of acquiring citizenship in the name of mother or father with gender identity.
