No possibility of dissolution of parliament: Deputy Speaker

KATHMANDU, August 4: Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Pushpa Bhusal Gautam, has said that the impeachment motion against the suspended Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana will move forward in the current session of parliament.

She said that it is necessary to proceed with a special discussion on the issue of impeachment by parliament itself. She added that in the next meeting of the House of Representatives, the impeachment motion will be included in the agenda and after discussion in parliament, the suggestions received from parliament will be sent to the Impeachment Committee. Deputy Speaker Bhusal said that based on the suggestions received from parliament, it is necessary to proceed with the impeachment motion against the suspended Chief Justice JB Rana.

She said, "There is no possibility of dissolution of parliament. The government has been formed as per Article 76 (5) of the constitution. It does not envisage dissolution. The question of impeachment, which has been registered, should be discussed in detail by parliament itself and then it should be followed up with suggestions.”
