No one should carry out activities hampering NA election: CEC Yadav

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has urged all political parties to help give full shape to federal parliament by holding National Assembly election in a successful manner. 

Inaugurating the election operation and management training organised for election officers, assistant election officers and district election officers to be deputed in National Assembly election here today, CEC Yadav said that no one should carry out activities hampering the election management. 

He said it was the responsibility of all to hold National Assembly election successfully as it is going to be held to give a full shape to the federal parliament, saying preparation was underway for the NA election in course of fully implementing the constitution. 

Election Commission Spokesperson Nawaraj Dhakal said that the centre has been thinking to assign technical centre for vote counting as vote counting of NA election was complex. 
According to EC, NA election is scheduled from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on February 7. 

The total 23 people including district judges from Morang, Dhanusa, Lalitpur, Kaski, Dang, Surkhet and Doti participated in the training. Polling centers will be set up in all seven provinces. The EC has prepared samples of four ballot papers. 

Chairperson and vice chairperson of rural municipality, mayor and deputy mayor of municipality and state assembly members can cast their vote in the polls. There are a total of 2,056 voters for the elections (1,506 from local level, and 550 from provincial level). 

According to the constitution, the total 56 members will be elected for the 69-member Assembly from both local level and provincial levels. Likewise, remaining three members will be nominated by the President on government recommendation.
