No Nepali died of COVID-19 in foreign countries last week

KATHMANDU, June 14: None of the Nepali nationals living in various foreign countries died due to COVID-19 last week.

According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), no Nepali national living in foreign countries died of CoronaVirus in the last week. However, in the last eight weeks, many NRN’s have died of COVID-19.

According to the association, more than 1,000 Nepalis have recovered from the coronavirus infection in countries like Denmark, the Netherlands, Australia, Japan, Myanmar, Poland, Russia, Canada, Finland, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, France, Belgium and many more.

As per the latest data of the association, as many as 17,792 Nepali nationals have been diagnosed with COVID-19 so far in various countries.

Last week, three Nepalis contracted coronavirus for the first time in an African country, said Dr Sanjeev Sapkota, the coordinator for the Health Committee of the NRNA. 

So far 127 Nepalese have died due COVID-19 in foreign lands. As per the latest data of the NRNA, as many as 23,127 Nepalis have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in 35 different countries including 5,335 cases in Nepal.

Nepalis in 13 countries including England, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Ireland, Japan, Turkey, the Netherlands and Sweden have died of COVID-19 so far.
