No decisions taken yet to put off scheduled examinations of Grade XII: State Minister Shrestha

KATHMANDU, August 2: State Minister for Health and Population Umesh Shrestha has clarified that there has not been any decision whatsoever to put off the scheduled examinations of Grade XII.

The remarks of State Minister Shrestha come amid reports in social media and a section of online news portals that the Ministry of Health and Population is taking a proposal to the Ministry of Education to put off all examinations planed with physical presence of students in view of the sharp rise of the COVID-19 cases. The reports had quoted Minister Shrestha as indicating that the examination of grade XII could be put off in view of the possible outbreak of the third wave of COVID-19.

While stating that he did not make any statements that the examinations would be put off, State Minister Shrestha said that he had only said that they would hold discussions to take examinations through alternative methods if the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise. “There has not been any decision to put off any examinations now. The examinations would be held within the scheduled date,” he said. “The Health Ministry is working towards ensuring vaccines to students taking Grade XII examinations.”

Meanwhile, Chairman of National Education Board Chandra Mani Paudel said that there have not been any changes in the schedules of Grade XII examinations. “Please do not run after the rumors that the examinations have been put off,” he said.
