President Bidya Devi Bhandari had earlier given a three-day deadline for opposition parties to come up with support of majority lawmakers in parliament to form a majority government. The deadline given after Prime Minister Oli failed to secure vote of confidence in parliament on Monday expired at 9 PM today.

Issuing a press statement on Thursday evening, the Office of President has said that it did not receive claim by leader of any political party by the given deadline. The failure of opposition parties to stake claim for the formation of a new government has paved way for Oli to get reappointment again as Prime Minister in his capacity as the largest political party in parliament as per the Article 76(3) of the Constitution of Nepal.
