BHAKTAPUR, Oct 15: Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation, Shankar Bhandari, today warned the country would fall into a grave crisis if the three political parties do not move ahead through agreement and cooperation.

Inaugurating an annual general assembly of a cooperative and addressing a joint regional assembly, Minister Bhandari said there were no other alternatives for the three big parties but to join hands.

"The constitution cannot be implemented without agreement and cooperation between the three political parties," he said adding, "the leaders of the parties must shun their personal interests, if not, the achievements of the people's uprising will be lost and country will fall into degeneration."

Minister Bhandari blamed the foreign conspiracy and leaders' weaknesses as the reasons for the crisis faced by the country. He stressed on need for support of main opposition party – CPN (UML) – to bring the Madhes-based parties into agreement.

Stating that the three major political parties should consider constitution amendment by addressing the demands of the Madesh-centric political parties, Minister Bhandari called for cooperation from CPN-UML for the same.

"The new constitution should be revised taking into account the nationality and national integrity," stressed the Minister.

Mentioning that the legitimate term of the incumbent government would continue until mid-January next year, he opined that the country would face national crisis if the government fails to hold three-tier elections within the stipulated time. RSS
