KATHMANDU, June 20: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has clarified that no additional laboratories have been allowed to conduct PCR test of COVID-19 infection of those aspiring to go abroad.

Deputy Spokesperson of the MoHP Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari issued a statement on Saturday stating that the government has not allowed any other health facilities except all government laboratories and hospitals with a minimum of 100 beds and private A-class laboratories to conduct PCR tests for those travelling abroad.

Stating that a section of media outlets have reported that additional laboratories have been allowed to perform PCR tests of those planning to go abroad, he requested not to publish information that would put the public in a difficult position. He also asked media persons to seek official information from the ministry before publishing news related to the ministry.

The government on Saturday announced the name of 22 private hospitals whose PCR reports will be recognized while traveling abroad.

With this, the Ministry of Health and Population has now provided recognition to PCR reports issued by all government PCR laboratories and 22 other laboratories of private hospitals for traveling to any foreign country.
