KATHMANDU, March 5: NIU, the #1 smart electric scooter brand in the world, on Friday announced that it is launching the NIU MQi+.

NIU has once again partnered with Bosch to release its next generation of e-scooters which are designed with the Nepali consumer in mind, offering different driving modes and extra space for a second passenger, according to a press release issued by NIU.

The MQi+ is an all-electric smart scooter which features one removable 48V31Ah lithium-ion battery and a Bosch 1500W electromotor with 45km/h max speed and over 60-75km range. With a robust frame, the MQi+ gives you ultimate riding confidence on the road. The powerful combination of the lithium battery and Bosch motor makes the MQi+ a force to be reckoned with. MQi+ will also be available in five colors. The new upgrades mark the company’s commitment toward ongoing innovation and creating e-scooters that are customized for local markets.

All scooters come with a prepaid SIM card slot which allows for 24/7 connection to the NIU app. The app provides owners with real-time intelligence such as GPS, anti-theft tracking, remote tracking, scooter diagnostics and a help centre.

NIU has sold seven million scooters worldwide, which have driven seven billion kilometres across 40 countries, since launching in 2015. NIU has been in the Nepali market for about four years now with over 800 units scooting around the Nepali streets. NIU has been a breath of fresh air in the shaky EV industry of Nepal. An average person saves an insurmountable amount by switching to NIU from petrol scooters saving on fuel costs and servicing costs.

“Including the newly launched MQi+, NIU now has an extensive range of e-scooters, e-cycles and bicycles to offer to our customers. Our products are designed to satisfy everyone’s urban mobility needs. NIU products are the best fit for urban citizens who are looking for a vehicle to commute in a clean and cost efficient manner, with savings throughout the life of the vehicle," Pragun Rajbhandary, director of Eco Infinity, said.

NIU Nepal has achieved many milestones in the past year - they are the first E-scooter to get number plate, the first to get more than two showrooms (Durbarmarg and Jhamsikhel), and the first to get financed by eight A-class banks. NIU is definitely a game changer in the automobile industry.
