Nirmal Purja appointed Goodwill Ambassador of Nepal Mountaineering Association

KATHMANDU, Feb 3: The Nepal Mountaineering Association has appointed Nirmal Purja 'nimsdai' – record summiteer of Mt K2 in winter – as a goodwill ambassador for 2021.

A Nepali mountaineering team led by Purja had successfully scaled Mt K2 in Pakistan for the first time in winter.

Purja also holds the record of summiting 14 peaks above 8,000 meters in just seven months.

The NMA also awarded 10 years of general membership to all the team members of K2 winter expedition.

The team led by Purja includes Migma David Sherpa, Mingma Tenjing Sherpa, Gyalzen Sherpa, Prem Chiri Sherpa, Dawa Sherpa, Kilu Sherpa, Mingma G, Dawa Tenjing Sherpa and Sona Sherpa.
