KATHMANDU, August 1: A delegation team from Nepal-India Chambers of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) led by Vice President of NICCI and Business Head of Dabur Nepal, Harkirat Singh Bedi, paid a courtesy call on Industry Minister Dilendra Prasad Badu at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Singhadurbar, Kathmandu today (Monday).
The delegation updated the Minister on the issues of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) being raised by NICCI and Nepali Business fraternity for over the past 10 years. The delegation said the issues were especially being faced by the Indian and multinational companies operational in Nepal.
Since the government has given priority to bringing FDI to Nepal, the delegation suggested, unless the issues related to IPR were resolved, it would be really very hard for Nepal to attract FDI.
Govt, NICCI discuss IPR issues
The delegation requested Industry Minister Badu for the cooperation and partnership to a program NICCI is planning to organize on IPR and issues related to Indian as well as Nepali Investors in regard to IPR, trademark, contract manufacturing, payment against service received from foreign companies etc.
Similarly, Industry Minister Badu expressed his eagerness to participate in the program and discuss the issues presented by NICCI.
