Insurers file petition at SC demanding payment of Covid-19 insurance amount

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday demanding the payment of the Covid-19 insurance amount.

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday demanding the payment of the Covid-19 insurance amount. The hearing on the writ petition is scheduled for Monday at 10 AM.


According to an earlier agreement, Nepal Insurers' Association (NIA) filed a petition at the SC against the government for failing to pay the  Covid-19  insurance amount. The NIA has also demanded an interim order to the government to pay the amount.

Companies have yet to pay about Rs 11 billion for  Covid-19  insurance and the government has not paid for that either. According to the Covid-19 insurance standards, the NIA claims that the responsibility lies with the government.
