NHRC asks govt to ensure easy access to  COVID-19 vaccines, drugs

KATHMANDU, Jan 24: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairperson Tapa Bahadur Magar has urged the government to ensure accessible supply of vaccines against COVID-19 infection to all citizens.

KATHMANDU, Jan 24: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairperson Tapa Bahadur Magar has urged the government to ensure accessible supply of vaccines against COVID-19 infection to all citizens.   


During an interaction program with the stakeholders on Monday at the NHRC, Magar said since the provision to restrict unvaccinated people in the public spheres has impacted their human rights the government should ensure vaccines to all.

Chairman Magar also instructed stakeholders concerned to pay attention to ensure adequate supply of drugs including Cetamol, manage the flow of people in the border areas and consider the possibility of increased number of cases due to crowd while implementing odd and even rules for vehicles.


Stating that the Omicron variant of coronavirus has rapidly spread, the NHRC held consultations with Dr Roshan Pokharel, Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population and joint-secretaries.    


On the occasion, discussions were held on the government plans to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, hospital’s capacity, enforcement of odd and even rules for vehicles, booster shot, people's access to essential goods and efforts to control artificial shortage of drugs.
