Newly-appointed Sports Minister directs sports associations gear up preparations for for Asian Games

KATHMANDU, Nov 12: The newly-appointed Minister for Youth and Sports Maheshwar Jung Gahatraj has directed all sports associations concerned to start preparations for the 19th Asian Games to be held in Guangzhou, China in 2022.

KATHMANDU, Nov 12: The newly-appointed Minister for Youth and Sports Maheshwar Jung Gahatraj has directed all sports associations concerned to start preparations for the 19th Asian Games to be held in Guangzhou, China in 2022.


During the discussion organized by the Nepal Olympic Committee on Thursday on Nepal’s preparations to participate in the Asian Games, Minister Gahatraj directed all the sports associations concerned to start preparations for winning medals.

The office bearers of various 20 sports associations interacted with Minister Gahatraj about Nepal’s participation in the Asian Games during the program. They have urged Minister Gahatraj to create a conducive environment for the preparations. 


Similarly, Olympian Deepak Bista urged the government to start preparations immediately as Asian Games is fast approaching and the performance level of Nepali players has dropped due to COVID-19 pandemic.


In the Asian Games held in Indonesia  in 2018, Nepal had won a historic silver medal in paragliding.
