BANEPA, Feb 2: At a time when the government is facing tough time deputing civil servants to the public offices in all the seven provinces, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the left alliance government to be formed will carry out major reforms in the public administration for promoting good governance.

“For stability and development in the country, good governance is the first condition. And for good governance, we should come up with tough policies. If our system continues to work in the same old-fashioned manner, it will be unfortunate for the country,” Dahal, also a former prime minister, said while addressing the 13th General Assembly of the Association of the Nepal Hatchery Industries.

He said that one of the major tasks of the new government will be to carry out radical reforms to change the working style of the public administration. “We need to make our country self-reliant and now, we have the opportunity to do so. Chances are high that radical reforms will be put forward,” he said.

He expressed concern over the government employees' reluctance to go and work at Area Administration Office in remote the Mahabharat Village Council of the district. Earlier, the government had decided to set up the administration office in the village and transferred some government officials. But ignoring the decision, they are still in the district headquarters.

“Instead of facilitating the government's move, government officials themselves have stood up as a challenge,” Dahal criticized.

He expressed firm commitment to review the existing acts, policies and regulations timely and make the bureaucracy efficient and result-oriented. “

He also assured the hatchery entrepreneurs that the government will come up with investment-friendly policies and promote entrepreneurships in the country. He accused the public administration of using the existing laws to seek personal benefits.

“The private sector cannot grow without the government's support. The new government will work hand-in-hand with the private sector for economic development in the country,” Dahal said.
