CHITWAN, Jan 20: Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba has said a change in the government will take place after the local level elections.

Speaking in a press conference organized by Press Union Chitwan here today, he said the change of government would not take place within mid-April as such.

He said discussions would be held on the constitution amendment proposal in parliament after the election-related bills are passed by the House. "The announcement of the date for the elections has been delayed due to the delay in passing the election-related bills," the NC president and former Prime Minister stated.

In response to a query by journalists, he expressed the confidence that the opposition parties would not now obstruct the deliberations to take place on the constitution amendment bill. He also reiterated the need of organizing the three elections within a year from this month for the implementation of the constitution.

The NC president explained that the constitution amendment proposal has been tabled in the parliament in deference to the sentiments of the Madhesi people. He added that implementation of the constitution would become difficult if the demands of all communities are not addressed to. RSS
