New Chinese envoy arrives in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Nov 7: New Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yu Hong arrived in Kathmandu on Monday to assume her office.  

Yu is the 20th Chinese ambassador to Nepal since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1955.

Successor to envoy Wu Chuntai who took office as Chinese ambassador to Nepal in March, 2013, Yu has expertise over Asian affairs and economic diplomacy.

Earlier, Yu was a Chinese consul general for Indonesia for two years after having served in the missions based in Norway, South Africa.

Started diplomatic career as an attaché in 1988, Yu has already worked as a director general for the Department of Consular Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and as the third secretary for the Department of Asian Affairs.

With expertise over economic diplomacy, Yu has arrived in Nepal at a time when the two countries are increasing economic partnership and bilateral projects.
