KATHMANDU, Sept 2: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday inclined by a whopping 127.32 points to close at 2,823.25 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,695.93 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,679.56 points in the first 22 minutes of trading. The index however went upward almost throughout the remaining trading hours, while gaining 4.72 percent overall.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also increased by a whopping 22.94 points. The daily turnover further increased to Rs 13.10 billion from Rs 10.51 billion on Sunday.


Among individual companies, 239 were recorded as gainers whereas only five were the losers.


All the 13 groups were the gainers. Life insurance and non-life insurance added the biggest of 624.26 points and 623.27 points, respectively. A total of nine groups added three-digit points in their indices.


Goodwill Finance Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 465.25 million. Seven companies including National Hydro Power Company, Best Finance Company, Samriddhi Finance Company, Progressive Finance, NLG Insurance Company, Reliance Finance and Super Mai Hydropower Limited were the topmost gainers that succeeded to add 10 percent in their market values. Laxmi Unnati Kosh lost the highest of 4.71 percent of its market price.
