KATHMANDU, May 2: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Tuesday slid down 4.27 points to close at 1,866.40 points.
The secondary market opened at 1,870.66 points and reached the day’s high at 1,878.96 points in the first 15 minutes of trading. The market went downhill and went to as low as 1,860.82 points before it recovered around six points to close for the day.

Six out of the 13 trading groups had their market index declined. Of the remaining seven groups, hotels and tourism gained the largest of 10.77 points.
The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies declined 1.12 points. In the intraday trading, 144 listed companies were the losers, while 69 companies added to their market values.
The daily turnover amount was recorded at mere Rs 692.27 million, a decline from Rs 954.32 million on Sunday. The market transaction has fallen heavily in recent days due to a low confidence of investors.
Among individual companies, Himalayan Distillery Limited had the biggest share transaction of Rs 24.44 million. Swet-Ganga Hydropower and Construction Limited was the biggest loser, while Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited gained the highest percentage of its market price.
