Nepse slides 2.43 points down, while the daily turnover drops closer to half a billion on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, May 10: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday slipped 2.43 points to close at 1,841.93 points.

The secondary market opened at 1,844.36 points and climbed to the day’s high at 1,852.04 points before it dipped to as low as 1,835.77 points. In the next moment, the market index escalated to 1,849.62 points, which was followed by a decline of around eight points in the remaining trading hours.

Out of the 13 groups, five including non-life insurance, manufacturing and processing, finance, hydropower and microfinance had their indices increased. The market values of ‘others’ and hotels and tourism declined by double-digit points.

In the intraday trading, 113 listed companies lost their market prices, while 88 companies registered as gainers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of the blue chip companies also went down 0.45 points.

The daily turnover amount dropped to Rs 589.10 million from Rs 774.76 million on Tuesday. According to stockbrokers, there was a heavy fall in transaction amount as the investors lost confidence in the country’s share market due to the political uncertainty seen at present.

Among individual companies, Himal Dolakha Hydropower Company Limited with transactions of its shares worth Rs 35.61 million topped the list. The company also registered as the topmost gainer of the day. NCC Debenture 2086 lost the highest percent of its market price.
