"I couldn´t get cooperation from Nepse board members to implement some innovative programs, including skill development program for employees, prompt decision on appointment of stock brokers and introduction of Central Depository System in Nepse," Paudel said at a press meet organized to inform about his resignation. High-ranking officials were not present in the press meet.
Paudel is an assistant professor at the Kathmandu University.
Meanwhile, Baburam Aryal, chairman of Rastriya Beema Sansthan (RBS), tendered his resignation on Thursday. He was also appointed on January 1.
FZ team back in Kathmandu
KATHMANDU, July 26: A team of 10 persons representing Yamaha successfully reached the Everest Base Camp via Tibet on Yamaha FZ16 motorcycles and has returned to the capital, Morang Auto Works (MAW), the sole authorized distributor of Yamaha two-wheelers for Nepal, said Sunday.
The team includes three ´celebrities´ -- singer Nima Rumba, Olympian Dipak Bista and media personality Suraj Singh Thakuri; three lucky winner -- Jyoti Deshar, Kumar Bal and Amit Pradhan; plus their support staff.
Issuing a statement Sunday, MAW said the objective of the trip had been to prove the performance of Yamaha FZ16 motorcycles.
The team had left for the Northern Base Camp, located at an altitude of 5,208 meters, on July 18. According to the statement, Rumba expressed delight that the motorcycle was able to travel at a speed of 110 kmph even in the Himalayan trail. Further, the statement said Thakuri rated this trip as the most unforgettable in his life. “The trail was risky, the climate extremely cold and sometimes there wasn´t adequate oxygen. But the comfort provided by Yamaha FZ overshadowed all the complications,” the statement quoted Thakuri as saying.
Similarly, Bista also expressed satisfaction over the bike´s comfort. “We traveled about 1,100 km through bumpy and irregular road on high Himalayas but we were not tired. This is mainly because of the comfort of the bike,” he said.
According to MAW, this is the first time that a 150 cc category bike has managed to cross through such high altitude and on this route, which is only used for a limited period in a year. “Only a strong bike and strong riders are advised to travel on such road. Till date only 4x4 wheel drive SUVs have traveled on this road. We have now proved that Yamaha FZ as a true bike that can travel in any climate and road conditions,” MAW said.
