NEPSE plunges 25.46 points; daily turnover increases to Rs 10.12 billion

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) plunged 25.46 points on Sunday to close at 2,701.90 points.

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) plunged 25.46 points on Sunday to close at 2,701.90 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,727.36 points and went into a series of fluctuations to reach the day’s high at 2,760.46 points in the first one and a half hours. However, the market shed around 59 points in the remaining trading hours of the day.

The Sensitive Index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, declined by 6.63 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 10.12 billion from Rs 9.65 billion on Thursday.


Among individual companies, 86 were recorded as gainers whereas 156 were recorded as losers for the day.


Only three out of the 13 sectors including microfinance, manufacturing and processing and mutual funds were the gainers as the Manufacturing Index soared by the highest of 63.10 points. Of the losers, the life insurance sector saw the steepest dip of 193.44 points in its index, followed by non-life insurance (176.91 points) and development banks (114.70 points).


CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 421.92 million. Three Star Hydropower Limited was the topmost loser. Mahuli Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Shrijanshil Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and Mid Solu Hydropower Limited were recorded as the biggest gainers, each adding 10 percent to their market values.
