NEPSE nosedives 90.73 points; daily turnover declines to Rs 12.92 billion

KATHMANDU, Sept 4: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday plunged 90.73 points to close at 2,739.46 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,830.20 points and went to a straight fall throughout the trading time. The index fell to the day’s low at 2,733.96 points when the last three minutes were left for trading. The market recovered around six points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, declined a notable 16.31 points. The daily turnover decreased to Rs 12.92 billion from Rs 13.57 billion Tuesday.

Among individual companies, only 31 were recorded as gainers whereas 213 were the losers.

All the 13 groups were the losers in the intraday trading. Life insurance shed the highest of 528.70 points. Eight groups had their indices decline three-digit points.

Nepal Finance Ltd had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 305.26 million. Kumari Equity Fund was the topmost loser. Four companies including Excel Development Bank, Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and Samaj Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited gained the highest of 10 percent of their market values.
