KATHMANDU, Oct 21: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday witnessed a landslide fall of 57.99 points to close at 2,639.92 points.
The secondary market that opened at 2,697.91 points slightly rose by around three points in the first two minutes. The index then went downhill and hit the day’s low at 2,636.09 points with four minutes left in the trading time. The market recovered around four points in the remaining trading time before the market closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also declined 11.14 points. The daily turnover plummeted to Rs 5.90 billion from Rs 8.18 billion on Sunday.
Among individual companies, 23 were gainers whereas 221 companies were recorded as losers.
All the 13 trading groups were the losers. Life insurance shed the biggest of 280.73 points. Non-life insurance, manufacturing and processing, finance, and hotels and tourism index also declined three-digit points.
Himalayan Reinsurance Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 220.36 million. Ngadi Group Power Ltd with a fall of 8.81 percent of its market price was the biggest loser. Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited added 9.98 percent in its market value and was recorded as the topmost gainer.
