KATHMANDU, Sept 9: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday witnessed a landslide fall of 55.86 points to close at 2,646.03 points.
The secondary market that opened at 2,701.90 points inched up around six points in the first few minutes and hit the day’s high at 2,706.54 points. However, the market went into a straight fall in the remaining trading hours and hit the day’s low at 2,638.46 points when four minutes of the trading time were left. The market recovered around eight points in the remaining trading hours before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, declined by a notable 10.53 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 9.43 billion from Rs 10.12 billion on Sunday.
Among individual companies, only 22 were recorded as gainers whereas 222 were the losers.
All the 13 groups were the losers. Life insurance and non-life insurance shed 333.89 points and 333.08 points, respectively. Hotels and tourism, microfinance and development banks also lost three-digit points in their indices.
CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 370.05 million. Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the biggest of 7.78 percent of its market price. Likewise, Hathway Investment Nepal Limited added 8.98 percent to its share price and was recorded as the topmost gainer.
