Nepse loses 6.90 points, while daily turnover hovers around Rs 1 billion on Sunday

KATHMANDU, March 19: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday declined 6.90 points to close at 1,926.40 points.

The secondary market opened at 1,933.31 points and reached the day’s high at 1,939.29 points within the first half an hour of trading. However, the market went downhill in the remaining trading hours.

In the intraday trading, 127 listed companies lost in their market value, while 74 companies registered as gainers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies fell 1.52 points.

For the past few weeks, the market has been posting a bearish trend. On Sunday, the daily turnover stood even dismal, posting mere Rs 1.069 billion from Rs 1.14 billion on Thursday.

Five trading groups including hydropower, investment, non-life insurance, hotels and tourism and trading were the gainers. The remaining eight groups had their average market value declined.  

Among individual companies, Himalayan Distillery Limited topped the list of the single-day transaction of its shares worth Rs 61.098 million. Sanima Growth Fund was the topmost loser, while Manushi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited gained the highest percent of its market price.
