Nepse loses 30.36 points on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, March 9: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) plunged 30.36 points to close at 2,514.58 points on Wednesday.

The secondary market that opened at 2,544.94 points rose to 2,557.04 points within the first few minutes of the starting of the intraday trading. However, the market witnessed a straight fall for the rest of the trading time, after the investors rushed to sell the shares they owned, according to the stockbrokers.

The entire trading groups landed in red due to fall in average prices of shares of the companies concerned. Non-life insurance, life insurance and development banks lost three-digit points in their indices. The sensitive index that measures the performance of the blue-chips companies also declined 5.35 points.

Amid low confidence of investors, the total turnover amount also fell to Rs 2.35 billion from Rs 2.60 billion on Monday. Among individual companies, Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited witnessed the largest turnover of shares worth Rs 105.22 million. Bishal Bazar Company and Mountain Energy Nepal were recorded as the top loser and the top gainer, respectively.
