Nepse loses 13.90 points, daily turnover drops to Rs 1.73 billion

KATHMANDU, Feb 15: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday declined 13.90 points to close at 2,091.56 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,105.46 points and hit the intraday high of 2,117.76 points in the first one hour. In the remaining trading hours, the index went downhill throughout the period.

In the past three days of trading since Nepal Rastra Bank revised the monetary policy, the market has lost more than 90 points.

In the intraday trading on Wednesday, 176 companies lost in their market value, while 37 stood as the gainers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of the blue chip companies also fell by 1.55 points.

Along with a decline in the market index, the daily turnover plunged to Rs 1.73 billion from Rs 1.78 billion on Tuesday. 

Only manufacturing and processing gained 48.53 points. Among the remaining 12 losers, life insurance lost 116.39 points, the highest among all.   

Among individual companies, Api Power Company posted the largest transaction amount of Rs 62.009 million. Garima Debenture 2085 lost the biggest percent of its market value, while Unilever Nepal Limited was the topmost gainer.
