KATHMANDU, June 9: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday enjoyed a surge by 23.19 points to close at 2,653.09 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,629.89 points and went up gradually throughout the trading hours. The index surged following a decline for consecutive four days, mainly with the investors’ attraction to shares of hydropower companies.

Three groups - including trading, hotels and tourism, and life insurance had their market value declined, with the ‘trading index’- went down by the largest of 18.68 points. Out of the 10 gainers, hydropower index added the highest of 82.24 points.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, gained 2.44 points. The daily turnover, however, declined to Rs 8.68 billion from Rs 9.13 billion on Sunday.
Among the individual companies, 191 were gainers while 56 were the losers. Radhi Bidyut Company had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 622.80 million.
Four companies—Makar Jitumaya Suri Hydropower, Pure Energy Limited, Dolti Power Company and Bindhyabasini Hydropower Development Company—gained the highest of 9.99 percent of their market values. Bhugol Energy Development Company Limited, with a downfall of 7.47 percent, was recorded as the topmost loser.
