KATHMANDU, August 1: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Monday increased marginally by 1.15 points to close at 2,196.25 points.
Despite a slight rise in the index, the turnover amount stood at a notable Rs 4.67 billion. On Sunday, too, the total turnover amount remained at Rs 4.60 billion. The stockbrokers said the rise in transaction volume is a good sign and could provide a base for the secondary market to grow.

The market opened at 2,195.10 points and went to a minimum of 2,183.54 points within a few minutes after the stocks trading for the day. Similarly, the market rose to the day's highest at 2,223.98 points before it started to decline.
Only five of the 13 trading groups gained in the intraday trading. The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also increased slightly of 1.94 points.
Among individual companies, Shivam Cements had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 383.11 million. Butwal Power Company Limited was the highest gainer while Rastriya Beema Company Limited Promoter Share was the biggest loser of the day.
