KATHMANDU, Sept 3: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday increased marginally by 6.94 points to close at 2,830.20 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,823.25 points and reached the day’s high at 2,860.44 points in the first 20 minutes of trading. The index however went through a series of fluctuations and hit the day’s low at 2,803.93 points in the next one and a half hours. The market recovered around 27 points in the remaining trading hours before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also increased by 1.20 points. The daily turnover further increased to Rs 13.57 billion from Rs 13.10 billion on Monday.


Among individual companies, 106 were recorded as gainers whereas 133 were the losers.


Five out of the 13 groups were the gainers. Non-life insurance was the highest gainer of 649.87 points, which was followed by life insurance, development banks, hotels and tourism, and microfinance. Of the losers, finance shed the biggest of 58.46 points.


NLG Insurance Company had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 347.22 million. Seven companies including NLG Insurance Company, Sindhu Bikash Bank, Matribhumi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Green Development Bank, Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Manushi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and Bindhyabasini Hydropower Development Company Limited gained the largest of 10 percent of their market values. Himalayan Power Partner Ltd lost the highest of 8.86 percent of its market price.
