Nepse inches up 4.55 points, daily turnover increases marginally to Rs 2.525 billion on Sunday

KATHMANDU, Feb 26: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday increased nominally by 4.55 points to close at 2,027.19 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,022.64 points and plunged to the day’s low at 1,963 points within the first 15 minutes of the trading period.  In the last half an hour, the market rose to as high as 2,029.66 points.

In the intraday trading, 146 companies gained in their market value, while 62 companies registered as losers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies slid marginally by 0.51 points.

The daily turnover stood at Rs 2.525 billion, slightly up from Rs 2.522 billion on Thursday.

Five out of the 13 trading groups, including trading, manufacturing and processing, life insurance, banking and mutual fund were the losers. Of the remaining groups, microfinance gained 108.45 points, the highest among the gainers.

Among individual companies, Himalayan Distillery Limited had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 105.87 million. Vijaya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was registered as the biggest gainer, while Citizens Mutual Fund-1 was the topmost loser of the day.
