Nepse inches 5.09 points up, daily turnover amount slips below Rs 1 billion on Monday

KATHMANDU, Aug 28: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Monday increased marginally by 5.09 points to close at 1,998.48 points.


The secondary market opened at 1,993.38 points and fell to the day’s low at 1,990.14 points in the first half an hour of trading. The market then escalated to as high as 2,009.37 points in the next 20 minutes.

The market then fell and hovered to around 2,000 points for almost two hours before the index declined around two points to close for the day.  


The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also added 1.45 points. The daily turnover fell to as low as Rs 988.62 million from Rs 1.262 billion on Sunday. 


Four out of 13 trading groups lost in their market prices. ‘Others', manufacturing and processing, hydropower and microfinance were among the losers. Hotels and tourism index gained the biggest of 45.23 points.


Among individual companies, the market values of 118 companies rose. On the other hand, 97 companies were registered as losers.


Laxmi Sunrise Bank Limited, with a turnover of Rs 73.179 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower Limited gained the highest of 10 percent. Swabhimaan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost 4.38 percent in its market price and was recorded the top loser.
