KATHMANDU, Jan 8: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday increased marginally by 6.38 points to close at 2,653.23 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,646.84 points and soared to the day’s high at 2,671.96 points in the first one minute of trading, including the surge in the pre-opening session. Within the next one and a half hours, the index dropped to 2,642.93 points, while the market recovered around 11 points in the remaining trading time before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also increased 1.02 points after the blue chips companies attracted investors. Daily turnover inclined to Rs 6.40 billion from Rs 5.38 billion on Tuesday.
Six groups were the gainers, with finance index and development bank index adding 140.44 points and 138.58 points respectively. Of the seven losers, trading shed the largest of 71.37 points.
Regarding the individual companies, 139 were gainers while 95 were registered as losers. Nyadi Hydropower Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 225.34 million.
Samriddhi Finance Company Limited was recorded as the topmost gainer. Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited suffered the loss of 10 percent of its market value, the highest of the day.
