KATHMANDU, March 12: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday rose by 17.28 points to close at 2,736.48 points.
It was the eighth consecutive day that the secondary market performed in a positive direction. However, in the past seven-day transactions, the NEPSE lost over 120 points.
On Wednesday, the secondary market opened at 2,719.20 points and reached the day’s high at 2,745.5 points within the first two hours of trading. The index went to correction in the second half and shed around nine points in the remaining period before the market closed for the day.
Nepse up for a fifth consecutive week

Two groups including development bank and microfinance lost 19.48 points and 14.08 points, respectively. Out of the 11 gainers, life insurance enjoyed gain of 89.32 points, the highest of all.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also inclined 2.55 points. However, daily turnover amount decreased to Rs 8.23 billion from Rs 8.39 billion on Tuesday.
Among the individual companies, 144 were gainers while 89 were registered as losers. Machhapuchhre Bank Limited Promoter Share had the biggest turnover of Rs 813.65 million.
Peoples Hydropower Company Limited gained the highest of 9.79 percent of its market price. Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was recorded as the topmost loser.
