Nepse drops by 3.66 points on Sunday

KATHMANDU, March 6: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) lost 3.66 points to close at 2,543.39 points on Sunday.

The market has been running in the bearish trend for the past few days after Nepal Rastra Bank tightened the noose on loans against shares citing a deepening liquidity crunch. Last week, Nepse nosedived by 114.40 points in overall trading.  

On Sunday, the secondary market opened at 2,547.04 points. It rose as high as 2,568.11 points in the first few minutes of the commencement of the intraday trading before closing finally at 2,543.39 points.

The total trading amount declined to as low as Rs 2.49 billion, a sharp fall from Rs Rs 3.62 billion on the last trading day last week. In terms of individual companies, Shivam Cement Limited witnessed the largest turnover amount of Rs 152.28 million. ICFC Finance Limited Promoter Share was the topmost loser while Mailung Khola Jal Vidhyut Company was the largest gainer in the day’s trading.
