Nepse dips 20 points and records below 1,900 points on Sunday

KATHMANDU, April 2: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday shed 20 points to close at 1,888.55 points.

The secondary market opened at 1,908.55 points and hit the day’s high at 1,928.66 points in the first few minutes of the trading. But the market went to a straight fall in the remaining trading hours.  

The stockbrokers said the market could not build up confidence even with the appointment of the new finance minister. After a long gap, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government on Friday appointed Prakash Sharan Mahat as the new finance minister.

All the 13 trading groups lost their market values. Trading index fell 54.99 points, the highest in the group.

In the intraday trading, 189 listed companies lost in their market value, while only 23 companies registered as gainers. The daily turnover rose to Rs 1.207 billion from Rs 899.53 million on Thursday.

Among individual companies, NIC Asia Bank, with transactions of its shares worth Rs 50.56 million, topped the list. Swabhimaan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the topmost loser. Kalinchowk Darshan Limited gained the highest percent of its market price.
