Nepali women’s football team leaving for India to play friendlies

KATHMANDU,   Feb 12: The Nepali National Women’s Football Team will be leaving for India on Monday for the FIFA friendly matches to be played against India on Feb 15 and 18 in Chennai.

NSC Member-secretary Tankalal Ghising bade farewell to the 30-member team comprising 23 players at the Satdobato-based ANFA complex on Sunday, wishing them success in the competition.

The team includes Ananta Raj Thapa as a head coach for the team while Anjila Tumbapo Subba is the captain, Anjana Rana Magar and Usha Nath are the goalkeepers.

Hira Kumari Bhujel, Ghim Kumari Gurung, Amrita Jaisi, Gita Rana, Nisha Thokar, Bimala BK and Samikshha Ghimire are defenders and Bimala Chaudhary, Sabita Rana Magar, Saru Limbu, Dipa Shahi, Renuka Nagarkoti, Anita Basnet, Preeti Rai and Anita KC are midfielders while Amisha Karki, Rekha Poudel, Sabitra Bhandari, Rashmi Kumari Ghising and Nirmla BK are the forwards. 

Commenting on the team’s preparations, the head coach said the “team combination is good”. “We are expecting a competitive match between the two nations,” said Thapa adding that although India is a well-set and empowered nation in South Asia in women’s football,  Nepal expects to find a happy ending.
