Chapali Height 2

‘Chapali Height 2’ is a romantic thriller featuring Ayushman Joshi, Paramita RL Rana and Mariska Pokharel. Directed by Dipendra K. Khanal, this continuation of 2012’s ‘Chapali Height’ is not a sequel but a different film altogether, sharing similar themes of romantic eroticism and revenge of the earlier film.

Abhimaan (played by Ayushman Joshi) is a rich playboy whose life starts to take a new turn after the arrival of a girl (Mariska Pokharel). But at the same time, he goes through a psychological meltdown that’s influenced by something he has done in the past.

2012’s erotic thriller ‘Chapali Height’ is one of the most successful Nepali movies of the past few years. Leading up to its release the film’s publicity posters garnered much controversy for sexualized depiction of its lead actress Binita Baral. The movie received mixed critical reception but director Dipendra K Khanal was appreciated for his approach in creating a low-budget film with only three characters.

Khanal’s last two films, ‘Jholay’ and ‘Pashupati Prasad’, have done good business, and given the growing fan following of model turned actors Ayushman and Paramati, ‘Chapali Height 2’ is stirring the right curiosity.

Bir Bikram

‘Bir Bikram’ is directed by Milan Chams, who gave us the Hema Shrestha starrer slasher thriller ‘Hasiya’. Though ‘Hasiya’ was a disappointment, Chams has roped in Dayahang Rai, Anoop Bikram Sahi, Arpan Thapa and Nazir Hussain for his new feature film.

Rai plays the titular character Bir Bikram who will go to any extent for the love of his life. His romantic interest is played by debutant actress Diya Pun, while Anoop Bikram Sahi will tussle against Rai on screen for Diya’s

affection.

Audience will see Arpan Thapa, who is always seen doing dark and anti-hero characters, playing a comedic character. After ‘Bir Bikram’ released its trailer, many have compared its storyline to Dayahang Rai’s ‘Kabbadi’ and ‘Kabbadi Kabbadi’. We can only be sure about its originality after watching the movie.
