KATHMANDU, Jan 16: Nepali Congress will hold its central committee meeting at 11 AM on Thursday at Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar. The decision to hold the meeting comes after Ram Chandra Paudel faction met with Prime Minister and chairperson of Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba on Monday.
On Sunday, the Paudel faction had an internal meeting where it decided to urge the PM to scrap parliamentary and work-evaluation committees that are against the party’s mandate. Post election defeats, Nepali Congress leaders have repeatedly felt the urgency to correct faults within the party to reclaim its lost glory. On Monday, PM Deuba had said that there was no option but to strengthen the party and move ahead. A source said that the central committee meeting would also nominate NC candidates for the National Assembly.
