EC had earlier issued a notice asking all political parties intending to participate in the upcoming March 5 general elections, must complete registration and obtain their certificates by mid-December.

This development comes amid a wave of new party formations and re-alignments in Nepal’s political landscape ahead of the crucial elections. At least 20 new political parties have sought registration at the EC since the announcement of the election date.
