The award money is set to be increased compared to the previous years, which will be announced later by the working committee.

The marathon is set to start from BP Chowk of Nepalgunj, which will go toward Kohalpur’s Chauraha and end at the same place in Nepalgunj. The marathon is promoted as a ‘friendship event’ for the two towns of Banke district.

National level athletes are set to participate in the main events. Athletes from Sudur Paschim Province, Karnali Province, Province 5, Gandaki Province among others will vie for the titles.

In the men’s category, Nepal Army Club’s athletes Hom Lal Shrestha and Krishna Basnet won the first and second editions respectively. Likewise, Jumla’s Durga Budha won the third edition and Nepal Police Club’s Bhumi Raj Rai won the fourth edition.

In the women’s category, Nepal’s number one marathon runner Kanchi Maya Koju had won the previous two editions since the categories’ inclusion in the event.
