BHAKTAPUR, May 16: Sunil Prajapati of Nepal Workers' and Peasants' Party (NWPP) has been elected as Mayor of Bhaktapur Municipality with a huge margin of votes. According to the final results, Prajapati got 29,200 votes while his nearest rival Ram Prasad Kasula of the Nepali Congress (NC) was limited to 3352 votes.
Similarly, Rajni Joshi of Nepal Workers' and Peasants' Party has been elected as Deputy Mayor of Bhaktapur Municipality with 29,695 votes. Her nearest rival Ranjana Kharbuja of CPN-UML got 2,784 votes.
The NWPP has made a ‘clean sweep’ in the post of Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Ward Chairpersons and members in Bhaktapur municipality. The bail amount of most candidates of opposition parties has been seized.
