KATHMANDU, Oct 15: The second match of the ICC World Cricket League Championship (WCLC) sixth round between Nepal and Hong Kong was postponed for reserve day Monday due to the typhoon 'Khanun' warnings by the local weather observatory.

However, the effects of rain on the aftermath of the typhoon is likely to affect the match proceedings on Monday too. The typhoon has reached signal No 8, winds speeding at 140 mph followed by heavy rainfalls.

A local source raised his concerns over pertinent rainfall that may cause dampen ground that might result in cancellation of the match. "Drainage system has been improved but not the best. It’s a government ground and not treated as an elite facility" was quoted on prospects of a full-fledged 50-overs match tomorrow by a local authority. "Looking a bit bleak here though" he added.

A league game was canceled at the same ground since two weeks despite blazing sunshine as the ground was not able to dry on time. The start time for the match is 6:45 am. There will be a curtailed match on further delay.

Any sustained periods of rain on  Sunday evening will reduce the chances of play with conditions getting worsened at the ground. The minimum requirement for a one-day match is 20 overs per side according to ICC. But the match can be suspended due to safety and security concerns by the umpires on the advice of the ICC Match Referee after final inspection of the playing condition.

The match is re-scheduled to take place on Monday. Nepal lost to Hong Kong by 83 runs in the first match played on October 13, Friday.
