KATHMANDU, Aug 10: Nepali youth team will open its campaign of the SAFF U-16 Championship taking on Maldives on Monday at the Sylhet District Stadium in Bangladesh.

Nepal's coach Upendra Man Singh said that his team was all prepared for the match and ready to take on any side. Nepal is pitted in group B along with Afghanistan in the tournament that sees participation of only six member of SAFF after Bhutan and Pakistan pulled out of the event.According to ANFA, the team had three training sessions after its arrival in Sylhet with most of them dedicated to set-pieces. Coach Singh, however, is worried about the playing condition as rainfall in Sylhet has muddied the pitch.

"As we are used to playing in an artificial turf, the wet pitch may pose a problem for us, but the rest is fine. We are ready for the championship," Singh has been quoted by ANFA. "This championship will also help us prepare for the AFC U-16 Qualifiers to be held in Bishkek in September."

Meanwhile, India is taking on Sri Lanka on Sunday in the first match of Group A which also consists of host Bangladesh.
