Nepal sees 2,638 new cases, 2,174 recoveries and 12 deaths linked to COVID-19 in past 24 hours

KATHMANDU, Oct 14: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) said on Wednesday that 2,638 new cases, 2,174 recoveries and 12 deaths linked to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in the past 24 hours. This takes the country’s coronavirus case tally to 1,17,996.

At a virtual media briefing, Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the MoHP, said that 2,638 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the course of 13,947 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests conducted at various labs across the country in the past one day.

Gautam said that Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 1,403 cases of COVID-19 in the past one day. With 2,174 COVID-19 patients discharged from various health institutions after recovery in the past 24 hours, the country’s coronavirus national recovery tally stands at 80,954. There are currently 36,367 active cases of coronavirus across the country, Spokesperson Gautam said.

With 12 deaths linked to the COVID-19 recorded in the past one day, the country’s coronavirus-related death toll reached 675 on Wednesday, the spokesperson said.
