KATHMANDU, Sept 23: The Ministry of Health and Population on Wednesday afternoon said that 1,172 new cases and seven new fatalities linked to novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in the past 24 hours, taking the country’s COVID-19 case tally to 67, 804.
At a virtual press briefing, Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the ministry said that 1,172 new cases were detected through 9,459 PCR tests conducted at various laboratories across the country in the past 24 hours.
1,893 persons who earlier tested positive for the virus were discharged after recovery in the past 24 hours. “With this figure, the number of people to be discharged after recovery has risen to 49,954 as of today,” Spokesperson Gautam said.
There are currently 17,414 active cases of coronavirus across the country, according to the spokesperson.
With seven more people dying of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the country’s coronavirus death toll has climbed to 436, Gautam said.
