Nepal’s COVID-19 casetally surpasses 600,000 with 3,479 new cases on Sunday

6,636 recoveries and 99 deaths recorded on the same day

KATHMANDU, June 6: Nepal’s COVID-19 casetally reached 601,693 with 3,479 new cases recorded on Sunday.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), as many as 10,461 PCR tests and 3,262 antigen tests were conducted on Sunday. Of them, 3,024 PCR tests and 455 antigen tests turned out to be positive.

There are currently 89,217 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Of them, 82,703 are in home isolation, 6,514 in institutional isolation, 1,442 in ICUs and 381 on ventilators.

Likewise, there are 46 districts in Nepal with more than 500 active cases of COVID-19 as of Sunday.

The health ministry also recorded 6,636 cases of recoveries from COVID-19 and 99 cases of deaths related to the same disease on Sunday.

Similarly, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,131 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday. Of them, 731 were detected in Kathmandu, 254 in Lalitpur and 146 in Bhaktapur districts.

Nepal’s COVID-19 test positivity rate stood at 28.9 percent on Sunday.
