Nepal’s COVID-19 caseload inches closer to 63,000 with 1,204 new cases in past 24 hours

KATHMANDU, Sept 19: Nepal has so far witnessed a total of 62,797 cases of COVID-19 with 1,204 more people diagnosed for the virus in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

MoHP Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam shared that 796 males and  408 females were tested positive for the COVID-19 during the 10,333 real time PCR tests carried out at various COVID-19 labs across the country. As of Saturday, a total of 904,706 PCR tests have been conducted to confirm the COVID-19 infection, Dr Gautam said.

As many as 72.08 percent – 45,267 –  of the total infected persons have so far recovered from the disease. This includes 1,477 people recovered on Saturday. Nepal now has 17,129 active cases of this disease while a  total of 7,735 people are quarantined across the country.

The country has also reported eleven new cases of fatalities caused by COVID-19 infection taking the death tally to 401.
